Exoplanet Audiobook: Cast, Release Date and Andy Weir’s Role

By Romaric

Three crew members reach the same alien planet. The problem is that they arrive in different eras. In Exoplanet, a mission aboard the starship Wild Blue Yonder becomes a survival story stretched across centuries. Anthony Mackie, Ariana DeBose and John Leguizamo lead the English cast of this Audible Original, written by Benjamin Percy and executive produced by Andy Weir.

The announced release is November 5, 2026. If you enjoy science fiction built around an impossible predicament, this is a production to watch: the crew must find a way to communicate across time while facing an intelligence that consumes human technology.

One planet, three eras: what is Exoplanet about?

A quantum anomaly separates the Wild Blue Yonder’s crew. Chief engineer Jeff Shaw, first officer Becca Bang and science officer Logan Bowers find themselves stranded on the same world, but at different points in its history.

The premise gives each character a different version of the danger. Becca encounters the planet’s past, while Logan faces a future shaped by machines. Jeff has a virtual assistant for company. The three perspectives turn communication into a survival problem: information must cross centuries before the crew can hope to escape.

That is the hook rather than a verdict on the finished recording. This guide covers the announced production and edition details; it is not a listening review.

Cherry Jones, Aida Osman, Charlie Plummer and Sufe Bradshaw also appear in the announced ensemble. The production combines performed characters with an original score by Rob Cairns and sound design by Skywalker Sound.

Did Andy Weir write Exoplanet?

Benjamin Percy wrote Exoplanet; Andy Weir is its executive producer. Audible makes that distinction in its announcement. Weir’s involvement may draw readers of The Martian and Project Hail Mary, but this is a separate original story, rather than another installment of either novel.

Is this a narrated novel or a full-cast audio drama?

Audible presents it as a full-cast audio experience, with music and sound design, rather than a single narrator reading a previously published novel. Dolby Atmos is part of the announced production. The cast and technical credits establish the intended format; they do not tell us how clearly the time shifts or action will work in the finished listen.
